21 Sep AUTUMN RITUALS FOR GRACEFUL TRANSITIONS #2 GARD THE FIRE
September – time of colors, time of purna-fullness, time of harvest. Its golden light warms our bodies and hearts, But as soon as the sunlight is hiding, we feel the chill of the fresh air and winds that autum brings. So it is pretty easy to catch a cold, especially for the sensitive Vata dosha peeps.
Good news are: we have woolen jumpers, houses with heaters and plenty of food. So here it is, as simple as it can be:
Key # 2 : KEEP WARM
Also meaning: say goodbye to cold drinks and foods and replace them with warm, cooked meals.
AGNI, our digestive fire is strong in Autumn, but it still needs support to digest the food properly. Skip the ice, yes Diana also the icecream (my favorite summer eating habit ) – and go for warm drinks, aka hot water and spiced tees that include some ginger, cinnamon and turmeric etc.
Avoid to much salads. Pitta folks, can still enjoy them as sidedishes to their cooked meals. For the rest of us raw is just too cold, möööhhh.
My perfect way to start my day: Porridge. Chia seeds are great, but so are good old oatflakes. Add seeds, nuts, peeled almonds and fruits. Cook for some minutes, while doing your thing, whatever this might be. Spice it up with cinnamon and nutmeg and voila,
warm belly = happy belly, happy belly = happy mind, happy mind = happy life.
It´s not that simple with the happy life, but it is a worthy starting point. Plus your belly meaning AGNI matters, believe me. It is THE essential element of your physical and mental vitality. Svaha – Amen.
Note: Alnatura has a nice „Haferbrei“ mix that you can pimp up ; )) AND Indian food is one of the best to digest!
